500 days of Summer is a romantic comedy showing the dynamic’s of the relationship between Tom (Gordon-Levitt) and Summer (Deschanel). Tom is a hopeless romantic, who feels that he cannot be happy until he finds his true love.Tom thinks he has found that love in Summer, a young women who does not believe in true love. The film chronicles the 500 days that follows them meeting and the myriad of emotions and situations that the couple goes though.
The underlying plot shown in the trailer is the same as most romantic comedies. Boy falls in love with girl, girl leaves boy, boy tries to win girl back. What the trailer also shows is a new spin on the events surrounding the plot. Getting deeper into emotions and feelings then is typical with this type of film.
