October 2010 UK cinema film release schedule...
Well the year is absolutely whizzing by, and so we come to October. A month full of sequels, animation, classic re-releases and actors spread across several films. Here’s your full UK cinema release schedule for October 2010…
FRIDAY 1st OCTOBER 2010.
Back To The Future – PG
Robert Zemekis’ classic ‘80’s time-travelling adventure comes back to cinemas, for a limited time in the UK only. Relive old memories with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, and the glorious DeLorean.
Garfield’s Pet Force 3D – U
Released only in key cities; this family friendly Garfield adventure follows the iconic cat, as he teams up with comic-book cat superhero Garzooka, in order to save both of their worlds.
Made In Dagenham – 15
Director Nigel Cole brings to the big screen the story of the British women who protested against the sexual discrimination of their working conditions in 1968. Starring Sally Hawkins, Bob Hoskins, and Rosamund Pike.
Takers – 12A
Starring Hayden Christensen, Matt Dillon, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Brown; this action flick follows a group of bank robbers, who find themselves interrupted by a detective on a mission, as they attempt to steal $20 million.
WEDNESDAY 6th OCTOBER 2010.
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps – 12A
Sequel to the 1987 Oliver Stone film, with both Stone returning to direct, and Michael Douglas back in the lead role. Other cast in this outing include Shia LaBeouf, Carey Mulligan, Josh Brolin, Susan Sarandon, and Frank Langella.

The Death And Life Of Charlie St. Cloud – 12A
Given the shorter title “Charlie St. Cloud”, this fantasy drama plots the events that occur after the death of Charlie’s brother. Cast include Zac Efron, Kim Basinger, Charlie Tahon, and Amanda Crew.
Jackboots On Whitehall – 12A
Animatronic puppets are used to play out an alternative history of WWII, in which the Nazi’s seize England, in this satirical comedy. An extensive British cast provide the voice talent, with actors including Ewan McGregor, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alan Cumming, and Pam Ferris.
Life As We Know It – 12A
With Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel, and Christina Hendricks: this comedy follows two single adults who must become a little girl’s primary care providers, when her parents (their mutual best friends), die in an accident.
Mr Nice – 18
Comedy drama documenting the life of the elite British drug smuggle Howard Marks. The all-star cast include Rhys Ifans, Chloë Sevigny, David Thewlis, and Omid Djalili.
New York, I Love You – 15
A collection of eleven short films about love, compiled together, and played out with an incredible ensemble cast. Hayden Christensen, Bradley Cooper, Shia LaBeouf, Andy Garcia, Christina Ricci, Ethan Hawke, Orlando Bloom, and Rachel Bilson, are just some of the talent on display.
FRIDAY 15th OCTOBER 2010.
Despicable Me (3D) – U
Steve Carell voices a criminal mastermind, who begins to find his paternal side, when he uses three orphaned girls as pawns in his big scheme. Other voice talent is provided by Russell Brand, Jason Segal, and Julie Andrews.
The Social Network – 12A
David Fincher directs the story of the founders of popular social-networking website, Facebook. With Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, and Rooney Mara.
Vampires Suck – 12A
Taking advantage of the current vampire-film trend, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer write and direct, this epic spoof of the genre. Starring Jenn Proske, Matt Lanter, and Diedrich Bader.

Alpha & Omega (3D) – U
Family adventure animation, about two young wolves from different tribes, who fall in love as they each try to find their way home. Voice cast include Christina Ricci, Justin Long, and Hayden Panettiere.
Easy A – 15
Teen comedy romance starring Emma Stone, Lisa Kudrow, and Amanda Bynes; about a clean-cut high school student, who relies on rumours to increase her social and financial standing.
Legends Of The Guardians: The Owls Od Ga’Hoole (3D) – PG
“300” director Zack Snyder helms this family animation adventure; with voices provided by Jim Sturgess, Helen Mirren, and Hugo Weaving, to name a few.
Mary & Max – 12
Australian/American clay-animated collaboration: with voices provided by Toni Collette, Eric Bana, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Barry Humphries. The story tells the tale of two rather unlikely pen-pals: a lonely eight-year-old girl from Melbourne, and a fourty-year-old severly obese New York Man.
Paranormal Activity 2 – 15
The huge demonic possession horror hit from last year returns, with a sequel sure to deliver scares the second time around. Directed by Tod Williams – and with Oren Peli as writer – Katie Featherston returns in the lead role.
Ramona And Beezus – U
Family comedy with Selena Gomez, Joey King, John Corbett, and Bridget Moynahan – based on the popular children’s book series by Beverly Cleary.
Red – 12A
Robert Schwentke directs this graphic novel adaptation, about a former black-ops agent who must assemble a team to help him survive, after a high-tech assassin threatens his life. With Helen Mirren, Karl Urban, John Malkovich, Bruce Willis, and Morgan Freeman.
FRIDAY 29th OCTOBER 2010.
Burke And Hare – TBC
John Landis presents a black comedy about two 19th Century grave robbers, and their antics. Cast include Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Tim Curry, Christopher Lee, and Isla Fisher.
The Kids Are All Right – 15
Comedy drama about two children conceived by artificial insemination, who aim to find their birth father, and bring him into their lives. Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo. Josh Hutcherson, and Mia Wasikowska star.
Saw VII (3D) – 18
The final instalment in the seven-year halloween horror franchise aims to bring more gore than ever before, and answer all the unanswered questions. Presented in glorious 3D - Tobin Bell, and Costas Mandylor return, as their disgustingly violent characters Jigsaw, and Detective Hoffman.
